General Forensic Science- Definition, History and Development of Forensic Science, Principles and scope of Forensic Science, Crime Scene Management, Type of Evidence, Chain of Custody, Integrity of Evidence, Report writing, Expert testimony and related laws, Concept of Quality Management System, Laboratory Information Management Systems, Research Methodology, Plagiarism, Ethics.
A. The architecture of computational devices, History, and Development of computers and its peripheral devices, and other electronic gadgets, Memory and its types, knowledge of Windows, Linux, Macintosh operating systems, the concept of a file system, Network components-routers and switches, write blockers, Basics of encryption, IP address and mac address.
B. Search and seizure of digital evidence, live data acquisition, knowledge of DD, Raw, E01 imaging system, knowledge of disk cloning, the concept of Hash value, digital signatures, recovery tools and the knowledge about Forensic software for the analysis, digital evidence in the computer, mobile phone, CCTVs, Digital camera, etc.
C. Cybercrime and its types, Internal and external attacks, detection of financial frauds, knowledge of the dark web, network threat and vulnerability, Cloud technology.
D. Knowledge about IT Act and other international laws on digital crime investigation and prosecution.
(80 questions of 80 marks)
- Ten (10) questions consisting of General Knowledge pertaining to the state of Himachal Pradesh.
- Ten (10) questions consisting of General Knowledge of National & International affairs.
(20 questions of 20 marks)
The Screening Test (CBT/Offline) will be of 100 marks of two-hour duration.
