Four Shikhar Samman would be given in the field of language, culture and literature for two years and Rs. one lakh each would be given to each awardees.
For the year 2017 Prof. Keshav Sharma would be honoured for contribution in Literature and special achievements.
Folk Singer Mohan Rathour would be honoured with Language and Culture Shikar Samman.
For the year 2018, Dr. O.C. Handa would be honoured with Sahitya Shikhar Samman, whereas Dinesh Kumari of Kangra would be honoured in Art and Culture sector.

In NGO category, Healing Himalayas Foundation, Kullu bagged first prize, The Voice NGO Shimla Second and Chandan Kranti, Mandi third prize.
Gram Panchayat Kamroo, Sangla Kinnaur won Second Prize in Gram Panchayat Category.
In industry category, M/s Torrent Pharma Baddi won first prize, M/s NTPC Kol Dam Bilaspur and M/S Luminous both won second prize.
Swami Vivekanand Government College Ghumarwin came first in Academic Institutions other than Schools.
In school category Government Senior School Shamror, Solan won first prize, DAV Senior Secondary Public School New Shimla and Government Senior School Himgiri, Chamba both bagged second prize.
In office premises, SJVNL Corporate Office Complex Shimla was adjudged first and DDU Hospital Shimla bagged second prize in hospital category.

The State of Himachal Pradesh was rich in biodiversity as it houses 5721 species of fauna and about 3295 species of flora, which comes to about seven percent of the biodiversity of the country.
The State Government was committed for conservation of our rich bio diversity and as many as 3871 Biodiversity Management Committees have been constituted in the State at the panchayat level.

A complete ban on the use of thermocol cutlery as it was also non-biodegradable and causing harm to the environment.
The government has promoted the use of ‘pattals’ and ‘dona’ made of leaves.
State Government has also launched a polythene buyback scheme under which polythene was being purchased for the people at the rate of Rs 75 per kilogram. The main objective of this scheme was to ensure that the polythene does not get into the environment and could be recycled and reused.
The used polythene was being utilized for the metalling of roads.

The survey was based on the satisfaction rating of all the Chief Ministers as voted by the respondents in their respective States.
The net percentage of satisfaction in Himachal Pradesh was 73.96 percent which was much higher than most of big States.
Tthe net percent of satisfaction was 67.21 percent in Karnataka, 67.17 percent in Assam, 58.73 percent in Madhya Pradesh, 58.53 percent in Gujarat, 57.81 percent in Uttar Pradesh.
All India average of satisfaction was 57.36 percent.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had been ranked as the most popular Chief Minister of the country amongst the BJP ruled States and 7^th most popular Chief Minister of the country as a whole.

The Commission will review the financial position of the panchayats and urban local bodies and make recommendations to the Governor regarding measures needed to improve the financial position of these panchayats and urban local bodies determination of taxes, duties, tolls and fees, grants in aid to panchayats from the consolidated Fund of the State and any other matter regarding sound finances of the Panchayats and urban local bodies.

The Cabinet decided to create a State Disaster Mitigation Fund and approved the guidelines for the administration of the Fund under Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Rules, 2011 to meet the expenses on mitigation, as preparedness and response activities are covered under a separate fund known as State Disaster Management Fund.
Under this Fund, 20 percent of the State Disaster Risk Management Fund would be used for mitigation, which comes to Rs. 90.80 crore for the current financial year.
Besides, funds worth Rs. 50 crore has also been recommended for managing Seismic and Landslide Risks in hill States from National Disaster Mitigation Fund to the State.

The Cabinet gave its consent to establish a Silkworm Seed Production Centre at Thunag in Mandi district.
