During the period of 10th Guru Govind Singh, a follower of Guru Nanak Dev known as Baba Kala Dhari had come and settled here.
Kala Dhari family was given a Jagir of 177 villages by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Kala Dhari family had laid the foundation of Una town.
Dera Baba Barbhag Singh’s Gurudwara- It is believed that some 300 years ago, Saint Baba Barbhag
Singh came from Kartarpur and performed the penance. The place is located near Amb- Nadaun road.
The followers have constructed the famous Gurudwara.
Baisakhi and Holi- The fair at Mairi near Amb is held on Holi where a large number of people gets together.
Principally people from Doaba and Majha– Malwa gather here and offer prayers to Dera Baba Bharbhag Singh.
Una district has produced outstanding players of international fame.
Padam Shri Charanjit Singh (born 3rd February 1931 in Nehari village) was the Captain of Indian Olympic Hockey team in 1964 which won the gold medal in Hockey. He retired as a Director; Department of Physical Education in Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.
Another sportsman is Shri Mahinder Pal who also got first place in pistol shooting in Asiad and Common Wealth Games.
Shri Deepak Thakur Sonkhla (popularly known as Deepak Thakur) is another outstanding Hockey player of the district who was the Captain of the Indian Junior Hockey team in 1996 and now is a member of the Indian hockey team which has been participating in International matches.
Among the veteran sportsmen, Shri Gurdev Singh of Una who took first place in the races of 1,500, 5,000 and 10,000 metres in the International Veteran Athletic competition.
