1405 A.D. – Hari Chand founded Guler state.
3000-2500 B.C. – Aryans from the Central Asia came in contact with the Himachal areas after crossing Purushani (Ravi) and reached Arijikiya (Beas). The Aryan King Divodas defeated the Kirat’s King Sambhar in the war which lasted forty years. This war found mention in the Rigveda.
To know developments in the society, literacy is the proper indicator of economic development. For purpose of census, a person in age limit of seven and above, who can both read and write with understanding in any language is considered as a literate in India.
ठियोग, मधान आंदोलन (Theog, Madhan Movement): सन 1926 – 28 में इन रियासतों में जन आंदोलन शुरू हुआ । यहाँ आंदोलन को कुचलने के लिए ‘बलूची’ और ‘जेहलमी’ पुलिस (Jehlemi Police ) को तैनात किया गया । ‘मियां खड़क सिंह’ (Mian Khadak Singh) ने ठियोग आंदोलन को नया जन्म दिया ।
चम्बा आंदोलन (Chamba Agitation): चम्बा में ‘कर’ के खिलाफ व ‘बेगार’ की समाप्ति के लिए 1896 में ‘भटियात वज़ीरात’ (Bhattiyat Wazirat) दल बना कर संघर्ष शुरू किया गया । हालाँकि सरकार ने इसे दबाव बनाकर कुचल दिया ।
कुनिहार संघर्ष (Kunihar Struggle): ये शिमला पहाड़ी क्षेत्र की 7 वर्ग मील में विस्तृत एक छोटी सी रियासत थी। प्रथम आवाज राणा के अभद्र पूर्ण व्यवहार के विरुद्ध 1920 में उठी । उस समय रियासत का राणा हरदेव सिंह (Hardev Singh) था।
रामपुर बुशहर आंदोलन (Rampur Bushahr Movement) 1906 में बुशहर में (कर्मचारियों के विरुद्ध असहयोग आंदोलन) दुजम (DUJJAM) शुरू किया गया । पं. पदम देव ने रीत (महिलाओं की खरीद फरोख्त) के विरुद्ध आवाज उठाई, साथ ही छुआछूत व् बाल विवाह का भी विरोध किया ।
