Himachal Pradesh Weekly Current Affairs:

Lok Tantra Prahari Samman Rashi Yojna-2019:

  • The cabinet decided to provide Himachal Pradesh Lok Tantra Prahari Samman Rashi under Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) and Defence of India Rule (DIR) to the people who took active participation for safeguarding the democracy and preserving the fundamental rights of the people from the period between 25 June, 1975 to 21 March, 1977.
  • The Cabinet decided to provide Rs. 11,000 per month to all such beneficiaries under this scheme.
  • This scheme will be launched in February, 2019 for the persons who were arrested under MISA.

Mission Antodaya to be implemented in the state:

  • The Cabinet approved to implement mission Antodaya in the state with a view to provide livelihood package through various schemes of the central and state government to those families which are facing financial hardship.
  • For this purpose the Rural Development department conduct a survey by reaching to such one lakh families to find out whether these families are being benefited under various schemes in second part their economic condition would be assessed and in the third phase, a convergence of various schemes would be prepared to benefit of all existing schemes.

Himachal to sell its 3 percent share of Yamuna water to Delhi:

  • The Cabinet gave its consent to sign the memorandum of understanding to sell the water of Yamuna river from the share (3%) of Himachal Pradesh on a payment basis at the Tajewala corridor.
  • The state government would earn Rs. 21 crore per annum from this decision.

M/S Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited:

  • The Cabinet approved a letter of intent for three years in favour of M/S Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited for extraction of limestone and shale minerals for setting up of cement plant in Shimla district.

Reservoirs of state to be developed on lines of Singapore model:

  • Irrigation, Public Health Minister of HP visited Marina Barrage built and commissioned by Public Utility Board across the mouth of Marina Channel in Singapore.
  • Marina Barrage benefits the people of the area by providing water supply to the region, provides flood control and is a venue for lifestyle attraction.
  • These benefits would be replicated in the reservoirs of Himachal Pradesh to make them places of attraction for tourism. It will sustain the ecosystem of the area and also generate employment opportunities for local people.
  • Minister also visited the Sustainable Singapore Gallery at the Public Utility Board (PUB) Singapore’s National Water Agency where the model of the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System was shown to him.

Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan scheme:

  • The Governor presided over the Uttam Kisan Sammelan and workshop under the “Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan” Yojana at State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute, Mashobra.
  • Around 250 farmers of 32 development blocks from seven districts participated in this workshop.
  • Agriculture and allied sectors had a significant contribution in the economy of Himachal and contribute about 10 per cent of the state’s gross domestic product.
  • 5.42 lakh hectare area was being cultivated in the state.
  • The “Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan” scheme being implemented by the state government has yielded good results.
  • Under the scheme, the target of training 50 thousand farmers were set in this financial year, out of which 42 thousand have been trained, which confirm that a large number of farmers were coming forward to adopt it.
  • A budget of Rs 19.03 crore had been allocated in the year 2019-20. During this period, it was targeted to conduct 1600 training programmes, out of which 1200 training programs had been conducted.
  • The biggest achievement was that 2669 farmers were engaged in natural farming.
  • Under the scheme, 1155 hectare and 2541 panchayats had been brought under the scheme.
