Himachal Pradesh Weekly Current Affairs:

Assistance of Rs. 220.46 crore given to the State by Centre Government:

  • In wake of COVID-19, the Centre government has provided assistance to the Himachal Pradesh government under various welfare schemes.
  • Under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojna rupees two thousand have been transferred in the accounts of 8,74,401 farmers in the month of April, with an expenditure of Rs. 175 crore.
  • Besides, as per the decision of Government of India, for the month of April, May and June monthly salary of 24 per cent would be transferred in the EPF accounts in case of those establishments having less than 100 labourers and their monthly remuneration is less than Rs. 15000.
  • The purpose of it is to ensure continuity in the employment of those labourers who have been affected in lockdown due to COVID-19.
  • As many as 5175 units have been identified in which there are 99,672 beneficiaries.
  • Under the National Social Assistance Programme of the government of India, Rs. 559.33 lakh were transferred in bank accounts of 1,11,863 eligible beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojna.
  • Under another component of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojna, out of 1,35,840 consumers of Ujjawala Yojna in the State 1,11,235 consumers were provided with cylinder refill with an expenditure of Rs. 10.35 crore.
  • Jan Dhan accounts of 1347263 persons have been opened in various banks under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna. Under this scheme, 6,36,734 accounts of women have been opened and Rs. 500 were deposited in accounts of 5,90,300 beneficiaries.
  • Similarly, in the wake of COVID-19, the assistance of Rs. 220.46 crore has been provided to the State Government by the Union Government for protection of people from coronavirus and providing relief items and other facilities under various welfare schemes.

Mukhya Mantri Shahari Rojgar Guarantee Yojna:

  • To revive the economy in the State in the wake of corona pandemic, 120 days assured employment would be provided to the urban populace under a new Mukhya Mantri Shahari Rojgar Guarantee Yojna.
  • For this, if required, adequate training would be provided for their skill upgradation.

 Building and Other Construction Workers Board:

  • The State Government had provided Rs.2000 each to about one lakh workers registered under Building and Other Construction Workers Board and for this Rs. 20 crore had been spent.
  • Now the government decided to provide another Rs. 2000 each to these workers.

Approval to grant petroleum exploration license under Open Acreage Licensing Policy:

  • The Cabinet gave its approval to grant a petroleum exploration license under Open Acreage Licensing Policy-Bid Round I in favour of M/s Vedanta Limited for petroleum exploration in Bali Chowki, Chachiot, Sarkaghat and Mandi area of Mandi district and Ghumarwin area of Bilaspur district.

State Government to launch a new programme ‘Nigah’ to sensitize people:

  • The State Government would launch a new programme ‘Nigah‘ to properly sensitize and educate the family members of the people of the State coming from other states of the country so that social distancing is effectively maintained.
  • Since thousands of people of Himachal Pradesh are stranded in various parts of the country, it has become necessary that any person reaching his home was properly checked medically and his case history is recorded.
  • A team of ASHA workers, health workers, and Anganwadi workers would visit the family members of persons arriving from other States to sensitize and educate them regarding the importance of social distancing so that they could be saved from any possible infection.

Governor releases ‘Saja Nahi, Bachav Hai Quarantine’:

  • Governor Bandaru Dattatraya today released the book ‘Saja Nahi, Bachav Hai Quarantine’ of Himachal unit of  Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti, prepared in view of  Corona pandemic.
  • This book is written and compiled by Dr. Om Prakash Bhuretta.
  • The major source of this book are World Health Organisation, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and under the various guidance of the National Health Mission Himachal Pradesh government.
  • Various steps of the spread of the virus and the effects of home quarantine have been explained in a simplified manner in this book.
