Churdhar is a beautiful place in the Sirmaur district which is basically famous for the temple of Lord Shiva’s. Churdhar or Chur-Chandni is a solitary peak that literally means ‘moonlight gleaming on the snow’. Here in this place there is a Shiv Ling, which is believed to be the religious Ling. The name of the place is derived from the Chureshwer Maharaj, who had some extraordinary supernatural power. This temple was one of the oldest temples of the Lord Shiva’s. This temple is situated on the top of the hill and in front of the statue of Shiva’s there is a small Shiv Ling, which was one of the religious and oldest Ling, found ever.

Churdhar (3609 m/ 11850 ft) is the tallest peak of Shivalik Himalaya in Himachal Pradesh.

It is believed that when the Shirgul was in the prison than some ghost whose motive was to destroy the people of these areas, lives here, but when he came back then the entire Ghost was killed by him. In the local language, Ghost is known as “Chudail” and Mountains is known as “Dhar” and the combination of these two words is known as “Churdhar“, after that this place is known as Churdhar.
