District Una Highlights of 2011 Census – Himachal Pradesh

Una district occupies the 6th rank among the districts in terms of population.

Una district stands at 6th position in terms of sex ratio among the districts of the state with 976 females per 1,000 males as compared to 972 females per 1,000 males of the state average.

Una district stands 9th in terms of its working force having total workers of 215,346 persons against 3,559,422 working persons of the state.

Una district stands at 1st position in terms of decadal population growth (2001-2011) of 16.3 percent persons in comparison to state decadal population growth of 12.9 percent persons.

In terms of density of population per sq.km., Una district with 338 persons per sq.km. stands at 2nd rank in the state.

Una district occupies 5th rank among the districts of the state in terms of the literate population. It has a literate population of 399,715 persons.

Una district touches its boundaries with plains of Punjab which by and large influences its economy. Among the total workers of Una district, the majority of its working force is engaged in the category of other workers.

Una district has also an important place on the religious tourism map of the state with famous religious places like Chintpurni, Dera Baba Barbhag Singh, Dera Baba Rudroo, and Gurudwara Baba Sahib Singh Ji Bedi.

Una district is also famous for its traditional Holi fair which held at Mairi near Amb, where a large number of people from the state and other parts of the country used to assemble to celebrate the Holi.

In terms of availability of various amenities in the villages of the district, all the inhabited villages have the amenity of power supply and the facility of improved drinking water.
