सुकेत (सुंदरनगर) वर्तमान जिला मंडी का भाग है। प्रख्यात लेखक जे॰ हचिनसन के अनुसार ‘सुकेत’ का नाम ‘सुक्षेत्रा’ शब्द से लिया गया है जिसका अर्थ है ‘अच्छी भूमि’। ए॰ कनिंघम के अनुसार सुकेत की स्थापना आठवीं ईसवी में हुई थी।
